“There’s No Question That Science Is Going to Help Us Live Longer,” Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang Says, Linking AI Research in Biology to Longer Lifespans and Expecting to Work Into His Late 80s

Jensen Huang said advances in science and artificial intelligence will extend human lifespan, as the Nvidia chief outlined a long-term vision linking computing power with breakthroughs in medicine.

Speaking on CNBC’s Mad Money, Huang said people born in the coming years could live to 100, citing rapid progress in AI-driven research.

“There’s no question that science is going to help us live longer,” Huang said. (CNBC)

AI and the Future of Longevity

Huang tied longer lifespans to the growing use of artificial intelligence in scientific discovery, particularly in biology and medicine. He pointed to Nvidia’s work with Eli Lilly, where joint research teams are using AI models to accelerate drug development.

“The large language models used for digital biology understand biology, not just language,” Huang said. (CNBC)

He said these systems allow scientists to analyze complex biological processes more efficiently, potentially speeding up the discovery of new treatments.

Huang also cited partnerships with AI firms such as Anthropic, which rely on high-performance computing to develop models capable of handling large-scale scientific and medical data.

From Computing to Life Expectancy

Huang described modern computing systems as engines that convert energy into useful outputs, enabling new forms of research and innovation. He said this shift is already transforming industries, including healthcare.

When asked directly whether Nvidia’s technology could contribute to people living to 100, Huang responded:

“Absolutely.” (CNBC)

He added that both pharmaceutical companies and AI developers will play a role in achieving that outcome.

“Both [Eli Lilly and Anthropic] will work on that,” Huang said. (CNBC)

A Personal Outlook on Aging and Work

Huang’s comments on longevity align with his own expectations about his career. In a 2025 interview with CGTN, he said he anticipates continuing to work well into the future.

“There is no question, in 2050, I will still be working,” Huang said. (CGTN)

Born in February 1963, Huang would be about 87 years old in 2050.

On CNBC, he also expressed a desire to remain active throughout his life.

“I’m hoping to die on the job,” Huang said, adding he does not expect that to happen “any time soon.” (CNBC)

Long-Term View

Huang’s remarks reflect a broader view that advances in computing and artificial intelligence will increasingly shape human health outcomes. He did not provide a specific timeline for when such gains in life expectancy would be realized, but described current developments as part of a longer-term trend.

The Nvidia CEO said the combination of AI infrastructure, scientific research, and industry collaboration is already accelerating progress, with potential implications for both lifespan and quality of life.
