Comedian Matt Rife said a congressman’s claims that extraterrestrial beings have visited Earth and made contact with humans represent the craziest and most important piece of internet content right now, yet “nobody even cares.”
Rife made the comment in a post on X reacting to a TMZ interview with Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican from Tennessee, in which the congressman said government and military officials had told him aliens are real.
“Not one piece of internet ‘drama’ is crazier or more important than this and nobody even cares i fkn hate this world,” Rife wrote in the post on April 7, 2026.

In the April 6 interview on “TMZ Live,” Burchett described a recent briefing he received roughly two weeks earlier in a secure setting. He said a member of the government provided detailed information about extraterrestrial beings visiting the planet on otherworldly craft and making contact with humans.
Burchett told TMZ that one of his colleagues attempted to disrupt the meeting, but the briefer still gave specific answers, including addresses, times, dates and people involved. The information reportedly reached the executive branch of previous presidential administrations.
When asked whether the claims involved non-earthly machinery, alien life forms or both, Burchett replied that it would be safe to say both. He added that he has spoken with multiple government and military officials on the subject.
Burchett said he does not believe humans are in danger from these beings. “These things exist as I think they do — they could have destroyed us in the blink of an eye. I just don’t see that,” he stated. He also offered to take a lie detector test to support his statements.
He recounted a conversation with a high-ranking naval official who described underwater craft the size of a football field moving at speeds over 200 miles per hour — far beyond the capabilities of any known fish or human submarine. The official reportedly pulled Burchett aside before leaving and said, “Tim, they’re real.”
Burchett also referenced an earlier incident involving Rep. Matt Gaetz and other lawmakers who traveled to Florida to receive a briefing but were initially turned away. After Gaetz made a phone call to the Pentagon, access was granted and pilots were brought in to speak with them.
Burchett’s latest comments are part of a series of public statements he has made about unidentified aerial phenomena and alleged government knowledge of extraterrestrial activity.
