Tesla posted on X that with Full Self-Driving (Supervised), its vehicles can automatically locate an open parking space in a crowded lot and park themselves.
With FSD Supervised, your Tesla will automatically find a free spot (even in a busy parking lot) & park itself
— Tesla (@Tesla) March 30, 2026
The demonstration came in a video shared by a user and quoted by Tesla on March 30, 2026. In the clip, the Tesla reverses to yield space for another vehicle backing out before maneuvering into the newly available spot without further human input.
The behavior builds on features introduced in software update 2026.2.9, which added customizable Arrival Options. Drivers can select where the vehicle should arrive and park, including in a Parking Lot, on the Street, in a Driveway, in a Parking Garage, or at the Curbside. Preferences for these options and parking positions are saved for each destination.
Tesla’s earlier announcement on March 3, 2026, stated that FSD Supervised “handles all your driving… to finding a free spot & parking itself,” according to a post on X.
Teslas are the only vehicles you can buy today that drive you to your destination with the tap of a button

FSD Supervised handles all your driving, from navigating city streets to maneuvering freeways to finding a free spot & parking itself
Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (Supervised) support page describes core parking functions, including Autopark for perpendicular and parallel spaces, and features that allow the vehicle to navigate complex environments such as parking lots.
The company’s FSD product page states that the vehicle “will automatically detect and maneuver into perpendicular and parallel parking spots for you.”
The owners manual for models such as the Model 3 notes that Autopark uses vehicle data to simplify parking maneuvers when enabled with Full Self-Driving (Supervised) or Autosteer. It requires the driver to remain attentive and in position to take control if needed. Details are available in the Autopark section of the manual.
Tesla has not published detailed public release notes for the 2026.2.9 update on its website. Information on the Arrival Options comes primarily from the company’s official X announcements.
The update forms part of ongoing refinements to FSD Supervised, which Tesla describes as a hands-on system that requires driver supervision at all times. Broader development includes work toward more advanced autonomy capabilities, though no timeline has been specified in the referenced announcements.
Tesla vehicles equipped with the necessary hardware and the latest software can access these features when Full Self-Driving (Supervised) is enabled. Availability depends on vehicle configuration, region, and software version.
The company continues to issue over-the-air updates that incrementally improve FSD performance based on fleet data.
